What It Really Means To Live In The Present

Are you happy? Such a simple, yet truly profound question. Are you really happy with how you live your life and what you’ve achieved? It’s easy to become too comfortable and set in your ways. And to no longer challenge yourself to be better than you were yesterday.

People talk a lot about living with purpose and how living in the moment will give you a gratifying life but what does it mean?

When you live with purpose and in the present moment, you let go of the past and stop waiting for better things to come. You start to live consciously with the awareness that every moment is a gift. But it’s even more than this – it is an experience of alertness in every moment.

How to Be the Best Version of Yourself Right Now

Don’t become a victim of time! When your mind is consumed with the past or worrying about the future, you’re not living in the present. And when you’re not rooted in the present, you can’t be completely happy or at peace. Your life becomes dictated by emotions and thoughts attached to potential future outcomes or past events, leaving you anxious and fearful.

One way to break this habit is to identify that time is a human-made construct. The existence of time is an illusion and the feeling of “presence” is the only true point of reference we have to this exact moment. Seeing the world through your eyes and being here in your body.

Why? Because you can’t feel the future or the past. You can only feel, hear, see or touch something right now. By allowing yourself to give in to the illusion of time, you’ll become a slave to the future and a victim of the past. You’ll be more susceptible to anxiety, depression, stress, anger and feel unsatisfied with your life.
