What Is Life Coaching Psychology?

Sometimes, we all need a little extra support, especially on our journey of self-discovery. It can be hard to figure out how to get from identifying a goal to pursuing and achieving that goal, whether your goal is to be more confident or to find fulfilment in a passion project. Life coaches can help with that.

A life coach is someone who can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses as well as overcome obstacles that are stopping you from achieving your goals. Which life coach to consult depends on what issues you are facing and what goals you want to achieve.

Life Coaches: What Do They Do?

Basically, they help an individual identify his or her goal (personal or professional) and then they help that person develop a plan to reach those goals effectively and efficiently.

In your role as a life coach, you help people identify the roadblocks that keep getting in their way, assist them in finding motivation, and assist them in pinpointing any resistance that may be holding them back from achieving their goals. It is not the role of a coach to provide advice to his or her clients. Rather than simply providing clients with advice, a coach facilitates their connection to their inner wisdom so that the client can decide what steps to take in the future.

There are many differences between a life coaching session and a therapy session—one offers structure and accountability, while the other is more open-ended. Furthermore, you won’t receive a diagnosis if you see a life coach. Although life coaches do have tools and skills for specific aspects of life, they don’t offer healing.
